Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a combination of deep tissue oil massage with gentle mobilisations and assisted (passive) yoga stretches. It is suitable for everyone, except those who are pregnant. The therapist will use their hands and feet to massage your whole body. We adjust our treatments to the needs of different clients, so massage techniques used can vary on different days, as we tailor it to what you wish to achieve on the day of massage. The therapist will assess your needs and choose the best course of action – the session can either be dynamic and energising, or slow, relaxing and reassuring. No matter which way your massage will go, you can expect your therapist to be professional and offer the best service possible. A big part of the Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is breathing – we will make sure your breathing is fully engaged throughout your session, as this will allow you to feel more centred and present throughout your session. Then we will focus on reducing the tension within your body by working the tissues with oil massage, passive stretches and other mobilisation techniques. During Ayurvedic Yoga Massage we aim to engage a specific part of your body you’d like to work on. If there is any part of the body you wish to exclude from the massage, please let your therapist know in advance – everything can be tailored to you, so that at the end of your session, you feel fully relaxed and stress free. During the Ayurvedic Yoga Massage we use a combination of oils and ground root of Acorus calamus powder. Commonly knowns as sweet flag, this plant can be found in India, central Asia, Europe and North America and has been used in Indian herbal traditions for a long time. During your massage the calamus powder will be used topically to gently exfoliate your skin and help stimulate circulation in your body, resulting in nicely warmed up skin and muscles. Another benefit of the calamus root is that its strong aroma has soothing properties, which will further the relaxing effects of the massage therapy.
